About Us
The Toronto – Calcutta Association (Calcutta Chapter) starts its journey in the year of 1988. TCA was established by late Shovana Bhadury, Dr.Amitava Chakroborty & Dr. Madhuchhanda Chakroborty. Even after completion of the glorious 36 years, the sacred lamp is still giving us the light which is our strength to look forward. TCA has registration under section 12AA, 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. Our registration number is S/64799 and registered address is 2/45 Naktala, 700047, Kolkata, WEST BENGAL. We also have FCRA number – 147120554 for tax redemptions.

Our Projects
Medical Clinics
Every citizen has its right to health services when and where needed”. This is the common objectives of the National Rural Health Mission of Government of India. The poorer community of the society still suffers from common ailments like diarrhea or dysentery, respiratory infections, scabies, tuberculosis, etc due to poor hygienic conditions.
Health Awareness Camps
The kind of work that TCA had been doing to combat the global evil of HIV-AIDS deserve separate mentioning. Indian Statistical Institute assessment specifies West Bengal as the beehive of potential Aids epidemic.
Eye Camps
A regular eye-test is the best way to protect our eye-sight. But people who are economically challenged may not be inclined to seek doctor’s opinion due to cost of consultant or difficulty in finding the time to be away from work. Eye Care in India still suffers from
Education
Right to education is one of the fundamental rights that the children have. But despite such rights, millions of children do not even attend pre-primary school. Pre-primary education is very important for all children of 3-6 years old irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds.
Vocational Training
Uttaran, another effort of Toronto Calcutta association was started in 2008 as training centre of women. The center provides a one-year training course in tailoring including cutting, stitching, and embroidery with the objective of providing employment opportunities through income-generating activities like cutting, sewing, knitting, etc.

Objective
a) Improvement in health related work with regular check-up programs and distribution of free medicine as the poorer community has no easy access to medical supervisions or primary health care.
b) Grassroots education including awareness programs.
c) Vocational training for women adolescent girls and women from low socio-economic backgrounds. Capacitating women for enduring their participating in the development plan and its implementation where they could contribute to their family from the vocational training.
d) Generate awareness at the grass-root level to felicitate for prevention of HIV.
e) To convince that preventive healthcare is important for holistic development.
f) Eye Check-up with basic guidelines, Distribution of medicine and glasses in cases prescribed by the doctors.
g) General awareness at the grass-root level to facilitate the need for eye-related preventions.
h) Providing eyeglasses to the target people.
i) Motivating the community to adhere to the clinical services is vitally important.
